Baptisms, Weddings, and Funerals

  • Baptisms and Thanksgivings

Baptism (also known as Christening) is an important marker on the journey of faith. Baptisms always happen within the worship on a Sunday morning.

We would love to have a conversation with you regarding adult or infant baptism.

Sometimes a service of Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child is more appropriate for you instead of an infant baptism. It’s also a wonderful step before baptism that many choose to take.

Get in touch with us to find out more.

Email hello@skc.church to start the conversation.

  • Weddings

Firstly, if you’re considering getting married at St Johns Saxmundham, St Mary and St Peter’s Kelsale or St Peter’s Carlton, congratulations!

We believe marriage is a gift from God.

There are various qualifying connections that you must meet if you would like to marry in a Church of England Church. You can find them here.

If either you or your partner are previously divorced then we will need to have a conversation with you as soon as possible. You can find more information from the Church of England here.

If you’re thinking about getting married within the benefice please do get in touch with us at hello@skc.church.

  • Funerals

Funerals can be a really difficult time as we mark the end of a life of someone we love. Funerals are an opportunity to thank God for our loved one, to share memories, and to express grief.

Our clergy are available to take funerals in our churches or in the crematorium. Funerals and burials of ashes are usually organised through the funeral directors in the first instance.

If you would like to talk with us directly please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Support is also available from our Bereavement Team. Email bereavement@skc.church
